Simple hearted 17-year-old Avril Lee discovers that her childhood friend and romantic goal, Matt Gibson, only keeps her around to act as a maid and earn his living expenses, as he works his way to become the top music star in the country. Furious and heart broken from him admitting to using her, she vows to get revenge by beating him in show business. Like a Star follows Avril's journey climbing up the showbiz ladder as she meets Joe Starlex, a 21-year-old actor who hold the title of the youngest "Sun", an award giving to only the best male artist. He will become her fairy godmother, her mentor and maybe, on the way, repair her broken heart.
